Starlen College of Nursing BSN Programs

Starlen College of Nursing provides detailed BSN education pathways. These pathways serve both entry-level students and practicing registered nurses who want to advance their careers. Our flagship RN to BSN program stands out with its optimized 12-month curriculum. The program helps registered nurses boost their expertise in critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and patient care.
Working professionals can balance their educational goals with clinical duties through this accelerated program. Many traditional programs require career breaks, but our BSN pathway lets nursing professionals continue working while advancing academically.
Students must complete 120 total credits in the RN to BSN program. Most students transfer 83 credits from their previous ASN education. The program features four sequential levels (100-400). Each level builds more advanced nursing skills throughout the program. Course requirements include:
- General Education Foundation: 11 credits in language arts, 6 credits in mathematics (including statistics), 18 credits in physical sciences, 17 credits in humanities, and 5 credits in psychology
- Core Nursing Curriculum: 63 credits covering advanced concepts in leadership, ethical practice, and evidence-based care
Our BSN program excels at developing nurses who grasp both clinical procedures and the science behind them. BSN-educated nurses learn vital concepts like physiology and pathophysiology. This knowledge leads to better clinical decisions and more effective patient care. Their deep scientific understanding helps them spot subtle changes in patient conditions and cooperate better with physicians and healthcare team members.
Nurses across Florida can access our fully online RN to BSN program while managing full-time jobs and family life. This flexibility shows our dedication to educating more baccalaureate-prepared nurses without creating barriers to education.
A BSN from Starlen College opens doors to major career growth. The degree creates opportunities for graduate education and leadership roles, especially since most nursing managers now hold master’s degrees. Healthcare employers prefer BSN-prepared nurses more than ever. Our graduates gain a competitive edge that leads to better career opportunities and higher earning potential.
Available Program Tracks
Starlen College of Nursing offers two connected program tracks that create a clear path to nursing excellence. These programs help students advance their nursing careers at different stages.
The college’s foundation program is an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) – a hybrid, pre-licensure program that meets Florida Board of Nursing requirements and national industry standards. Students complete their general education and nursing theory online, with campus sessions focused on practical skills, simulation labs, and clinical practice. The ASN program welcomes students who want to become registered nurses.
ASN graduates can take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination in any state. This creates a natural step toward advanced education. Students who get their RN license can continue their learning through Starlen’s advanced track.
The RN to BSN program marks the next phase in professional growth. This accelerated 12-month curriculum serves registered nurses with a diploma or associate degree. The program responds to healthcare’s growing need for nurses with bachelor’s degrees.
Both programs show Starlen’s dedication to making nursing education available. The ASN program lets students study theory online while getting hands-on experience during campus sessions. The RN to BSN program’s online format helps working nurses advance their education without leaving their jobs.
These connected programs create a well-laid-out educational path. Students can start with no nursing background in the ASN program and get their BSN through structured steps that build on previous learning. This model serves people in the Fort Lauderdale area nursing community who want to start or advance their careers.
Flexible Learning Formats
Starlen College of Nursing understands what modern nursing students just need. The college has created learning formats that are available to everyone without compromising educational quality. These formats show how we help students with different needs through innovative teaching methods.
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program uses a hybrid learning structure that combines online and in-person elements. Students complete their general education and nursing theory courses online. They also take part in hands-on learning, simulation labs, and clinical practice during on-campus sessions. This balanced approach prepares students well for nursing practice while giving them flexible schedules.
The RN to BSN program gives working professionals a fully online experience. Students can choose between real-time and self-paced learning, connect with peers, and get technical support whenever they need it. The program creates an environment where students can balance their studies with family and work.
Students in the RN to BSN program can complete 120 credit hours in just one year. This quick timeline includes upper-level nursing and general education courses that build advanced nursing skills efficiently.
Key flexibility features include:
- No need to interrupt current employment
- Choice between hybrid or fully online formats depending on program
- Available technical support systems
- Self-directed learning options
- No rigid scheduling constraints
These learning formats make nursing education available to more students while preparing them for real-life healthcare environments. Students don’t have to choose between education and other life commitments. Starlen College of Nursing programs create paths that work with their schedules and promote success by understanding ground constraints.
Our program delivery shows our steadfast dedication to developing nurses who excel in clinical skills and can guide through healthcare’s changing demands.
Entry Criteria & Prerequisites
Starlen College of Nursing BSN programs set specific entry requirements that help students succeed. The RN to BSN program needs candidates to have an active, unencumbered registered nurse license and official transcripts from their nursing diploma or associate degree.
Students need to complete these key steps before applying:
- Pay the $75.00 application fee with their submission
- Meet with a program representative to talk about their goals
- Show they can handle online classroom technology
- Send official transcripts from all schools they attended
- Get two professional references from employers, teachers, or community groups
- Pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement background check
Grades play a significant role since students must keep a C or better in all their courses. The college will assess transfer credits after acceptance. Students need to finish at least 30 credits at Starlen College to graduate.
Nursing students must meet several clinical requirements too. They need medical clearance, drug test results and must pass a full background check. Each clinical facility has its own rules about past convictions or substance use that could limit placement options.
The program won’t let students continue without meeting all clinical requirements. Starlen College can’t guarantee different clinical placements if a facility rejects a student because of background check or drug test results.
These standards show Starlen College’s steadfast dedication to training qualified nurses for Fort Lauderdale and beyond. Their careful entry requirements will give graduates the tools they need to excel in healthcare settings where patient safety comes first.
